Launch of the 2024 University Ventures Awards in Japan

Japan's prestigious 2024 University Ventures Awards are now open for entries, celebrating the most innovative startups emerging from academic environments. Organized by the National Research and Development Corporation for Science and Technology Promotion and the New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization, with support from the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology, the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, and the Japan Venture Society, this award highlights the collaborative efforts of universities and industries in nurturing early-stage companies.

Criteria and Categories:

Eligibility: Ventures that are not publicly listed, established within the last ten years, and have not previously won major awards from the Ministries.

Categories: The awards recognize university-launched ventures utilizing patents or research results from academic institutions. Ventures established by university staff or students, and those supported by universities through investment or management, are also eligible.

Special Recognition: The 'Early Edge Award' targets entrepreneurs under 40 and ventures less than three years old.
